Kaduna Bye-elections: APC’s Victory Proof of Uba Sani’s Inclusive Governance, Says Maiyaki
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, has described the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency bye-election as proof of Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive governance and people-centred policies.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the APC winner of the keenly contested poll, with its candidate polling 34,580 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) followed with 11,491 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secured 3,477 votes. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) finished with 142 votes.
The ruling party also recorded victories in the Zaria Kewaye and Basawa State Assembly Constituencies.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the announcement of results, Maiyaki said the outcome reflected the trust Kaduna communities now repose in Governor Uba Sani’s leadership and the APC.
He described the win in Chikun/Kajuru as “historic and symbolic,” noting that the constituency had long been considered an opposition stronghold.

“With this breakthrough, the party has consolidated its hold on Kaduna State, stretching its dominance into territories once seen as opposition fortresses,” the Commissioner said.
He attributed the victories to Governor Uba Sani’s grassroots-focused leadership, which, according to him, has delivered tangible results in road infrastructure, healthcare renewal, education reforms, and security interventions.
“The people of Chikun and Kajuru as well as Zaria Kewaye and Basawa State Assembly Constituencies have spoken loud and clear — they want progressive leadership, not recycled promises. They trust Gov. Uba Sani’s leadership style of inclusivity,” Maiyaki added.
He further noted that the party’s triumph, particularly in Chikun and Kajuru, had broken a long-standing jinx and positioned the APC on a stronger pedestal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“For the APC family, the message is unmistakable: Chikun and Kajuru are no longer opposition enclaves, but part of the consolidated strongholds of a party whose grip on Kaduna’s future is growing firmer by the day,” the Commissioner said.
