Economic Confidential to Host 3rd Public Lecture, Unveil Books on Nigeria’s Economy

The Economic Confidential, a publication of Image Merchants Promotions Limited (IMPR), will on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, host its third Public Lecture in Abuja, where new books addressing critical national issues will also be unveiled.

The annual event has become a high-profile platform for shaping economic thought and bridging policy with practice. This year’s lecture, themed “Agenda for a Digital Global Economy,” will be delivered by Mallam Kashifu Inuwa, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). The Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Health and Information as well as Special Adviser on the Economic Matters will serve as Special Guests of Honour.

The Managing Editor of Economic Confidential, Mr. Abdurrahman Abdulraheem said the lecture is expected to deepen national conversations on how Nigeria can harness digital transformation and technological innovation to drive growth and reposition its economy in the global arena.

Alongside the lecture, three new books authored by young professionals and corps members at IMPR will be presented. The titles include “Renewed Hope in Central Banking” by Rahman Oladosu, “Healing Nigeria: A Chronicle of Health Reforms” by Lawal Mamman and Maimuma Aliyu, and “Diplomacy and Digital Innovation: Youth Insight” by Fatimah Usman and Umar Bala.

Forewords for the books were written by Dr. Sule Yau Sule, Chairman of IMPR’s Board.

The maiden edition of the Public Lecture in 2023 focused on “Economic Diversification in an Evolving Cashless Society.” It featured former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, as Guest Speaker, with Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission Chairman, Mohammed Shehu, was the Special Guest. Books presented then included “Pantami: The Trials and Triumphs of a Digital Economy Maestro” by Yushau A. Shuaib and “eNaira Revolution: A Peep into Nigeria’s Cashless Future” by Abdulrahman Abdulraheem.

The second edition, held in 2024, centred on “economic growth and food security.” It was delivered by Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, with Vice President Kashim Shettima as Special Guest of Honour. A book titled “Impactful Public Relations in Customs Management: The CG Wale Adeniyi Example,” co-authored by Maryam Na’Allah and Kabir Abdulsalam, was launched.

With its tradition of combining robust policy dialogue and knowledge-driven publications, this year’s event is expected to provide fresh perspectives on digital opportunities, economic sustainability and good governance as Nigeria navigates its political and socioeconomic transitions.
