OPHK Troops Neutralize Scores of Terrorists in Borno and Yobe States
The Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has achieved significant victories against Boko Haram, Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in recent counter-terrorism operations across Borno and Yobe states.
On August 22, 2025, troops from the 21 Special Armoured Brigade successfully repelled a large-scale night attack on their Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kumshe, Borno State. The terrorists, who were heavily armed, were met with fierce resistance. With crucial support from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the troops conducted surveillance and precision bombardments, inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers. A subsequent exploitation of the area revealed over 20 terrorist corpses, some dismembered by the bombardment, which had been hastily buried in shallow graves. Troops also recovered a significant cache of weapons.

In a separate but simultaneous operation on the same day, troops from Sector 1 engaged terrorists in a firefight during an offensive at Dipchari, near Banki Junction in the Bama Local Government Area. Following the encounter, several terrorists were neutralized. The troops recovered one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) tube, two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two motorcycles.
The successes continued on August 23, 2025, when Sector 2 troops, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), conducted a long-range tactical operation around the Ndoksa general area near Buni Gari, Yobe State. This operation resulted in the neutralization of additional terrorists and the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and two motorcycles.
These coordinated and sustained operations have effectively denied the terrorists freedom of action, degraded their fighting capabilities, and disrupted their logistics network within the region. The military high command has commended the troops for their exceptional performance and has urged them to maintain the momentum of their offensive actions.
