Troops Eliminate Bandits, Recover Rustled Cattle in Kaduna
Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed two suspected bandits and recovered rustled cattle following an attack on a Fulani settlement in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation, conducted by troops of 1 Division under Operation FANSAN YANMA, took place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at about 11:40 p.m., when armed bandits stormed Kwanar Farakwai village.
According to security sources, the troops, working in coordination with police operatives and local vigilantes, responded swiftly to the distress call. On arrival at the Lambar Zangon axis, the bandits opened fire on the security team, sparking a fierce exchange of gunfire.

During the confrontation, a soldier sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to the Military Reference Hospital in Jaji, where he was later confirmed dead.
The troops pursued the fleeing attackers to the Jura axis of Kerawa district, where two of the bandits were neutralized, while others escaped into the surrounding bush. The security team successfully recovered all the rustled cattle.
Military authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects, while investigations into the attack have commenced.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to sustaining operations aimed at restoring peace and security in Kaduna and other parts of the North-West affected by banditry.
