Eid El-Maulid: Kwara Gov Urges Muslims To Embrace Unity, Shun Partisanship
Kwara State governor and chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has called on Muslims to rise above divisive politics and remain united in promoting the true message of Islam.
In a statement personally signed by him to mark this year’s Maulid Nabiyy, the governor urged the Muslim community to remain steadfast on the path of guidance and prioritize collective humanity over personal or partisan differences.
“As we commemorate the Maulid today, I urge the Muslim community to shun bitter partisanship, unite for a greater cause, and shine the light of Islam to the rest of the world,” he said.
AbdulRazaq acknowledged that differences in opinion are natural but cautioned against allowing them to breed enmity or undermine shared values.

“As humans with varying experiences and perspectives, it is normal if we don’t agree on all things every time. Yet, that should not make us enemies, disrespect ourselves, or deter us from prioritising things that matter to our collective humanity,” he added.
The governor stressed that legitimate differences of opinion should not overshadow the universal message of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), noting that true love for the Prophet is demonstrated by living according to his teachings.
“During this commemoration of the noble birth of the Prophet and beyond, let us show our love for him by following his clear message and acting true to his admonitions,” he urged.
AbdulRazaq also congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Kwara State and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, praying that Almighty Allah grants the faithful “blessings, forgiveness, peace, and tranquility that the love of the Prophet brings.”
