NSCDC, Army Foil Bandit Attack on Plateau Farmers
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced that its Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police, successfully foiled a series of bandit attacks targeting farming communities in Nteng village, Deomak District, Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, CSC Afolabi Babawale, disclosed this information in a statement made available to newsmen on September 5, 2025, in Abuja.
The development followed a marching order by the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, directing security units to intensify operations in troubled farming communities to safeguard food production and protect vulnerable populations.

Commander of the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Commandant A.S. Dandaura, described the attacks as “grievous ordeals” for the villagers, lamenting that suspected bandits had continually terrorised farmers, exploiting the difficult terrain—characterised by mountains, swamps and poor road access—to launch coordinated assaults.
“These repeated attacks have caused loss of lives, destruction of farmlands, residential houses, a primary healthcare hospital, and other properties,” Dandaura revealed. “Over 4,000 farmers were displaced, with many forced to seek refuge in a primary school camp within Qua’an-Pan.”
He explained that the latest joint security operation successfully repelled the attackers and restored calm, allowing displaced villagers to return to their homes. “The synergy between the NSCDC, the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police, through a joint guard operation, is commendable. On behalf of the Commandant General, I assure the affected communities of sustained protection, particularly in Doop, Keolakan, Jepmorop and Gorom, where valuables were maliciously destroyed or looted,” he said.
As part of long-term measures, Commandant Dandaura disclosed that the NSCDC would deploy its Agro-Rangers Squad to the area to provide security for farmers, foster peace between farmers and herders, and prevent further attacks or reprisals.
