​Again, IPRA Shortlists Nigeria Customs, IMPR for Golden World Awards, Celebrates 70th Anniversary in Africa

​The International Public Relations Association (IPRA) has once again put a spotlight on Nigerian excellence in strategic communication, shortlisting the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and its partner, Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) for the prestigious Golden World Awards (GWA) 2025.

This announcement comes as IPRA prepares for a landmark triple celebration in Accra, Ghana, marking its 70th anniversary, the 2025 GWA Gala, and the inauguration of a new president. The Ghana Institute of Public Relations (IPR) will also mark its 50th Anniversary.

Established in 1955 as the first global professional body for public relations, IPRA was founded to promote ethical standards and best practices worldwide. Recognised by the United Nations as the oldest and global network of PR professionals, IPRA offers intellectual leadership in international public relations and champions open communication and ethical conduct across borders.

​The recognition for NCS and IMPR for a joint award in the publication category is a testament to their continued prowess in the field of public relations. The partnership has a history of success at the IPRA GWA, including a win in 2024 in Belgrade for a campaign titled “100 Days of Impactful PR at Customs Service,” which was lauded for its excellence in the Crisis Management category. This repeat shortlisting solidifies their position among the global leaders in strategic communication.

The shortlisting of the NCS and IMPR for the GWA highlights a pattern of Nigerian institutions and agencies consistently receiving international recognition for their innovative and impactful public relations campaigns.

​The Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi, who was recently elected President of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), has witnessed, through strategic communication, a new era of innovation, accountability, and record-breaking performance by boosting national revenue and reinforcing border security.

The conference will be graced by a keynote address by President John Dramani Mahama, as well as speeches and presentations from Esther A.N. Cobbah, President of IPR Ghana, Arik Karani, President of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), and Nataša Pavlovi Bujas, President of IPRA.

Themed “Global Realities and Innovative Communications”, the two main conference sessions will be on Public Relations (PR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Communication, Sustainability, and Climate Change Communication.

As the global PR community converges in Accra, the Nigerian delegation will be a key player in the discussions and celebrations, showcasing the country’s commitment to excellence in public relations and strategic communication.
