Kwara Police Release 48 Suspects After Finding No Criminal Links
The Kwara State Police Command has released 48 men earlier arrested along the Alade–Oreke axis in Oke-Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area, after investigations found no links to criminal activity.
The suspects, travelling in clusters on 14 motorcycles, were intercepted on September 4 by police operatives working with vigilantes attached to the Office of the National Security Adviser on special duty at Oke-Ode.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said in a statement on Monday that the operation was based on credible intelligence from the Divisional Police Officer in Oke-Ode. According to her, 43 mobile phones and other personal belongings were recovered from the men at the time of their arrest.

She explained that the suspects were subjected to detailed criminal intelligence analysis and profiling, including digital forensic checks on their devices. Investigators extracted call records, communication trails, transaction histories, and geo-location data in a bid to verify possible connections to kidnapping, banditry, or other organised crimes.
“After exhaustive checks, no incriminating evidence was found, and all forty-eight individuals have been duly released this morning,” the statement read.
Ejire-Adeyemi stressed that the operation was carried out with full respect for human rights and investigative protocols. She noted that while the police must act swiftly on intelligence to safeguard communities, innocent citizens will not be unjustly criminalised.
She further urged Kwara residents to remain calm and cooperative, encouraging them to continue providing credible information to security agencies in the fight against criminality.
“The outcome underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting our communities while ensuring fairness and justice in the discharge of its duties,” she added.
