Police Arrest 2 Suspected Bandit Collaborators with Fuel in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has intercepted and arrested two suspected collaborators of bandits allegedly attempting to supply fuel to criminal elements operating along the Nigeria–Niger Republic border.

The suspects, identified as Mamuda Umar, 50, of Jibia, and Lawal Hamisu, 55, of Dan Abdullahi in Niger Republic, were apprehended by a border patrol team around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday along the Jibia–Dan Abdullahi route.

They were reportedly driving a green Volkswagen Passat vehicle loaded with 22 jerrycans of petrol and three gallons of fuel, when security operatives, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted them.

Security sources disclosed that the fuel was suspected to be intended for supply to bandits who have been terrorising communities in border areas.

“The suspects and the exhibits have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Katsina for discreet investigation,” one of the sources confirmed.

The police assured that security operatives will continue to intensify surveillance and intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting the logistics and supply chains of criminal groups across the state.
