Troops Foil ISWAP Attack, Neutralize 2 Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Monguno
Troops of Sector 3, Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully repelled an attempted infiltration by fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State, PRNigeria learnt.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday when terrorists attempted to breach a military location at Charlie 13 in Gana Ari.

According to the sources, the troops immediately engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun duel, with reinforcements swiftly deployed to bolster the defensive line.
“During the encounter, two of the terrorists were neutralised,” a source disclosed. “The troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles, six magazines, one hand grenade, a Boefeng radio, a bottle of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), 67 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a bandolier bag.”
The source added that exploitation operations are ongoing in the area to track fleeing fighters and prevent further infiltration attempts.
Meanwhile, the troops remain on high alert to secure Monguno and its environs against renewed threats from ISWAP terrorists.
