CP Dantawaye Assumes Duty as New FCT Police Commissioner
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the assumption of duty by Commissioner of Police Dantawaye Miller as the 34th Commissioner of Police for the nation’s capital.
CP Miller officially took over the leadership of the Command on Friday, October 17, 2025, succeeding CP Ajao Adewale, who has been redeployed to another strategic position by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the new Commissioner pledged to consolidate existing security frameworks and strengthen community-police partnerships aimed at ensuring the safety and security of all residents of the FCT.
“As he assumes duty as the 34th Commissioner of Police, CP Miller has pledged to build on existing security frameworks, deepen community-police collaboration, and ensure the safety and security of all residents within the Federal Capital Territory,” Adeh stated.
She further appealed to residents to continue supporting the police in their collective effort to sustain peace and stability across the FCT.
Described as a seasoned law enforcement officer, CP Miller brings over two decades of distinguished service in various operational and command roles within the Nigeria Police Force.

Born on October 15, 1971, in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Miller is the son of the late Deputy Commissioner of Police Gajere Dantawaye. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in May 2000 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and began his career in Bayelsa State in 2002.
Over the years, he has served in several high-profile capacities, including Acting Aide-de-Camp to a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Escort Commander to a former Vice President, Chief Security Officer at the Ministry of Petroleum, and Commanding Officer of MOPOL 24 attached to the Presidential Villa.
He also previously held positions as Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) in the FCT Command, Area Commander in Adamawa State, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Yobe and Edo States, and Commissioner of Police in charge of Information Technology at the Force Headquarters. Before his redeployment to Abuja, Miller served as the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command.
The FCT Command remains one of the most strategic and sensitive police formations in the country, tasked with securing the seat of government, diplomatic missions, and critical national assets.
In recent months, the territory has faced mounting security challenges despite ongoing efforts by the police and other security agencies to safeguard lives and property. Expectations are therefore high that CP Miller will bring renewed strategies, professional rigor, and decisive leadership to strengthen security and restore public confidence across the capital.
