COAS Shaibu Hosts Ododo, Assures Kogi of Stronger Military Support Against Insecurity
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s determination to sustain a relentless campaign against criminal networks threatening security in Kogi State and across the country.
The Army Chief made the commitment on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, when he hosted the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.
Lieutenant General Shaibu assured that the Nigerian Army will continue to deploy all necessary resources to confront emerging and existing threats, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains its primary obligation. He emphasized that ongoing operations are being intensified as part of a broader strategy to neutralise criminal elements and restore stability nationwide.

The COAS also reaffirmed the Army’s readiness to deepen strategic partnerships with state governments, noting that effective collaboration is essential to strengthening security architecture and ensuring long-term peace.
Governor Ododo, in his remarks, congratulated Lieutenant General Shaibu on his appointment as the 25th Chief of Army Staff, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his exemplary leadership and competence. He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting the Army’s leadership to Shaibu at a decisive period in the nation’s security landscape.
The Governor commended the Nigerian Army for its unwavering role in safeguarding the country amid complex and evolving threats. He pledged the full support of the Kogi State Government toward ongoing and future operations aimed at enhancing security across the state.
