Army Dismantles Terror Cells, Eliminate 8, Arrests 51, Rescues 27 in Nationwide Raids
The Nigerian Army has recorded major operational successes across the country between 29 November and 1 December 2025, neutralizing eight terrorists, arresting 51 suspects and rescuing 27 victims in a series of coordinated missions targeting insurgents, kidnappers, traffickers, cult groups and oil thieves.
In the North East, troops of the 151 Task Force Battalion, 152 Task Force Battalion and 192 Battalion in Borno State neutralized four fighters belonging to ISWAP and Boko Haram (JAS) during ambush and clearance operations. The operations led to the recovery of three AK-47 rifles, four magazines loaded with 70 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 31 rounds of 12.7mm, 171 rounds of 7.62x54mm linked ammunition, 183 rounds of 7.62x51mm NATO, an AK-47 working part and a Baofeng radio. Although no captives were found, troops repelled infiltration attempts around Chibok.
Across Plateau, Taraba, Benue, Kogi and Kaduna States, troops under Operation WHIRL STROKE and Operation ENDURING PEACE rescued 20 victims, including women and children, in multiple raids and patrols. The operations led to the arrest of a range of criminal elements: suspected kidnappers in Panyam, human traffickers in Sardauna, extremist collaborators in Ukum, illegal miners in Lau, cultists in Delta, and a gunrunner in Plateau.

In Taraba State, troops responding to a communal clash in Karim Lamido neutralized four violent extremists, recovering a fabricated AK-47 rifle, three Dane guns, 25 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and two motorcycles. In Delta, security forces also recovered a locally made pistol, two cartridges and five mobile phones from suspected cult members. Additionally, 76 rustled cattle were recovered in Plateau State and returned to their rightful owners.
Anti-oil theft operations in the South-South resulted in the destruction of an illegal refining site containing an estimated 1,000 litres of stolen crude oil. Joint operations with the NDLEA further led to the arrest of 25 drug-related suspects in Bayelsa and Rivers States.
In Kaduna State, troops intercepted a major haul of explosives being transported illegally, including 5,000kg of gelatine explosives, 3,000 metres of cordtex fuse, 10 electric detonators and 1,000 metres of connecting wire. Authorities say investigations are ongoing in collaboration with other security agencies.
One of the most significant breakthroughs was the arrest of notorious gunrunner Shuaibu Isah, also known as “Alhaji”. He was apprehended while attempting to take delivery of 1,000 rounds of ammunition from accomplices who are now being pursued by security forces.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens, maintaining national security and ensuring that terrorists, bandits, traffickers and their collaborators find no sanctuary within the country.
