Delta Police Eliminate Kidnapping Suspect, Arrest Notorious Gang Members in Coordinated Raids
The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs against armed criminality and cultism, resulting in the death of a suspected kidnapper and the arrest of multiple armed robbery and cultist members across three coordinated operations in Ughelli, Oghara, Sapele, and Obiaruku.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the operatives for their gallantry and appreciated stakeholders for trusting the police with information in crime fighting.
Kidnapping Suspect Killed, AK-47 Recovered in Obiaruku
In an intensive operation on December 1, 2025, operatives of the Command State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU), collaborating with community volunteers, received credible intelligence that suspected kidnappers were mobilizing within the Obiaruku forest to carry out an attack.
The operatives advanced swiftly and came under fire, but responded with superior firepower, leading to the death of one suspect, while others escaped with injuries. The team recovered one AK-47 rifle with 42 rounds of live ammunition, nine mobile phones, and charms.

The CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, dismantled a criminal network linked to theft, armed violence, and cult activities between November 28 and 29, 2025:
Ughelli Arrests: The team intercepted Kelvin Oke (42) and recovered a stolen tricycle near the Ekuigbo axis. Further operations led to the arrest of the gang leader, Victor Oyaye (26), and Monday Emakpo (31), resulting in the recovery of another stolen tricycle and a locally made shotgun loaded with six live cartridges.
Oghara Recovery: CP-SAT continued the offensive into the Oghara–Sapele axis, storming the residence of Jeffery Saint (28), where a meticulous search led to the recovery of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol and fifteen rounds of live ammunition.
Pistol Seized on Asaba-Benin Expressway
In another operation on November 29, the Eagle Net Special Squad, commanded by SP Danyaya Inusa, apprehended Ezekiel Edeya (28) during a routine stop-and-search operation on the Asaba–Benin Expressway. A search of his discarded handbag led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and three live cartridges.
