The Kebbi State Government has donated 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to enhance security operations along the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, a major infrastructural project currently underway across several states.
The vehicles were formally received on Thursday by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who commended the gesture of the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu).
Boosting Security and Project Delivery
Minister Goronyo stated that the donation reflects the Kebbi State Government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the personnel working on the expansive corridor. The vehicles are specifically designated for security operatives providing protection to workers stationed along the stretch of the super highway that falls within the region.
Goronyo described the intervention as timely, noting that the project’s scope requires constant mobility, rapid response capacity, and strengthened patrol presence to deter threats.
“This contribution by His Excellency, Dr. Nasiru Idris, demonstrates genuine leadership and a deep understanding of the strategic importance of this highway,” Goronyo said.
Strategic Importance of the Highway
The Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway is envisioned as a transformative road network expected to improve trade, open new economic corridors, and link key northern and southern regions.
The gesture has been widely hailed as a proactive step capable of boosting morale, improving response time, and strengthening the overall security architecture surrounding one of Nigeria’s most ambitious road projects.
Minister Goronyo confirmed that the newly acquired vehicles would be deployed immediately to bolster surveillance and operational reach across the construction zones.
The report was signed by Maryam M. Sanusi, Director of Information and Public Relations.
