Senator Shehu Buba Unveils Landmark Mosque and Islamiyyah Complex in Nabordo
The Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Umar Buba, has commissioned a newly constructed Juma’at Mosque and Islamiyyah School complex in Nabordo, the headquarters of Jema’a Emirate in Toro Local Government Area.
The multi-purpose religious and educational facility includes a main Juma’at Mosque, a dedicated female prayer section, a modern Islamiyyah School, and comprehensive sanitary facilities. The project is designed to serve as a hub for both spiritual growth and the advancement of Islamic and Western education within the community.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony shortly after the Friday congregational prayer, Senator Buba—who currently serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Livestock and Husbandry—urged the community to use the facility as a center for unity.
“I constructed this mosque and Islamiyyah to boost educational standards and provide a befitting place of worship,” the lawmaker stated. He called on the congregation to intensify prayers for the peace and stability of Bauchi State and Nigeria at large, noting that his humanitarian interventions are specifically designed to have a “direct bearing on the life of the common man.”
Senator Buba, the former Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, lauded the peaceful coexistence within the Jema’a Emirate. He attributed this harmony to the “just and fair leadership” of the Emir of Jema’a, Alhaji Suleiman Bala Suleiman.

Responding to community requests for further development, the Senator assured the residents of Nabordo that more projects are on the horizon. “Very soon, this area will witness the commencement of additional projects in line with my campaign promises and developmental agenda,” he promised.
The lawmaker emphasized that his drive to construct worship and educational centres across and beyond his constituency stems from a desire to invest in the “hereafter.” He tasked the Nabordo community to take full ownership of the complex by ensuring adequate maintenance and close supervision.
The Emir of Jema’a, Alhaji Suleiman Bala Suleiman, expressed deep gratitude to the Senator, praying for divine rewards for his generosity. Local scholars at the event described the Senator as a role model for wealthy individuals.
“Allah has promised a befitting house in Paradise for anyone who builds a mosque for Him,” one scholar remarked. “Senator Shehu Buba has built many such structures, choosing to invest in the eternal rather than just the temporary.”
Stakeholders at the event highlighted that this project is part of a broader portfolio of Senator Buba’s achievements, which includes: construction of roads, culverts, and healthcare facilities, establishment of several primary and Islamiyyah schools, the provision of boreholes with overhead water tanks powered by solar and significant interventions in healthcare and agricultural support for rural farmers.
The commissioning was attended by a high-powered delegation of government functionaries, traditional rulers, and religious leaders, alongside a large crowd of well-wishers from across the state.
