
NAF Boosts Airpower as AWDC Commandant Visits Operation Hadin Kai
The Nigerian Air Force has intensified efforts to strengthen airpower capabilities and joint operations in the North-East as the Commandant of the Air Warfare and Doctrine Centre, Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Jibia, paid an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, in Maiduguri.
During the visit, Jibia said the engagement was aimed at interfacing with aircrew deployed in the theatre and assessing ongoing operations to enhance mission effectiveness.
He also explained that the visit followed his recent assumption of office as Commandant of the AWDC and aligned with the Chief of the Air Staff’s philosophy of deliberate training and mission-oriented force development.
The air force chief underscored the importance of airmindedness in building a professional and combat-ready force, noting that the NAF had stepped up efforts in joint training, synergy and integrated operations to address evolving security challenges in the region.

Jibia commended the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, describing him as a mentor and praising the leadership of Operation Hadin Kai, as well as the resilience and gallantry of troops battling insurgency in the North-East.
He assured personnel that the Armed Forces and well-meaning Nigerians remained firmly behind them and pledged that issues raised during operational briefings would receive due attention.
On arrival at the theatre headquarters, the AWDC commandant was briefed on ongoing operations with a view to making informed recommendations to further strengthen air-ground coordination and overall operational effectiveness.
In his remarks, Abubakar congratulated Jibia on his promotion and appointment, describing him as a seasoned pilot whose experience would add value to joint operations in the theatre. He thanked the AWDC commandant for the visit and expressed confidence that the engagement would further enhance operational outcomes.
The theatre commander also reaffirmed Operation Hadin Kai’s commitment to adopting innovative ideas from the AWDC, particularly in joint training and exercises, while appreciating the sustained support of the Nigerian Air Force in capacity development and operational engagements in the North-East.
