Air Strikes, Ground Troops Repel Terrorists Attack in Kukawa Axis
Troops have successfully foiled a coordinated, multi-pronged terrorist attack on military positions in Kukawa following a prolonged overnight engagement bolstered by precision air strikes.
Military sources disclosed that the insurgents launched the assault late on February 20, advancing from multiple directions using gun trucks, motorcycles and foot soldiers in a bid to overwhelm defensive positions.
The troops mounted a resolute defence, engaging the attackers in fierce combat that extended into the early hours of February 21. After sustained resistance and coordinated firepower, the insurgents were forced to retreat, reportedly evacuating their casualties from the battlefield.

Subsequent air interdiction missions targeted the fleeing elements, destroying one gun truck and several motorcycles used by the terrorists. The strikes further neutralised additional fighters attempting to escape.
During follow-up exploitation operations, troops recovered 13 AK-47 rifles, 16 fully loaded magazines, three handheld communication radios and other equipment believed to have been used in the attack. Evidence at the scene also indicated that the insurgents had evacuated a number of their wounded or deceased members.
One soldier paid the supreme sacrifice during the encounter, while some military equipment sustained damage from rocket fire. Injured personnel were promptly evacuated for medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition.
Military authorities stated that the coordinated ground and air response underscores sustained operational pressure on insurgent elements and ongoing efforts to degrade their fighting capability across the theatre of operations.
