Army Intensifies Offensive, Arrests Terror Suspects, Rescues Hostages Nationwide
The Nigerian Army has recorded major operational gains across multiple regions of the country, arresting suspected terrorists, rescuing kidnapped victims, and disrupting criminal supply chains in a series of coordinated operations conducted within the last 24 hours.
According to military sources, the operations—spanning the North-East, North-West, North-Central, Federal Capital Territory, and South-South—underscore an intensified offensive posture aimed at degrading terrorist networks and strengthening national security.
In the North-East, troops sustained pressure on insurgent groups with the arrest of a suspected ISWAP/JAS operative in Ngamdu, Borno State. The suspect reportedly confessed to serving as a logistics courier for terrorists operating around Gubio and Magumeri. In a related operation in Monguno, two collaborators linked to a known terrorist kingpin were apprehended. Items recovered include mobile devices, wristwatches, a power bank, terrorist uniforms, food supplies, and cash. Troops also secured the suspect’s immediate family.
Rescue operations in the region led to the safe recovery of six kidnapped victims—three in Old Hyum and another three in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State—highlighting ongoing efforts to locate and free abducted persons.

Further north, troops in Nguru, Yobe State, intercepted a truck falsely declared to be transporting beverages but found loaded with large consignments of medical supplies suspected to be intended for illicit cross-border movement. The seizure included hundreds of cartons of antibiotics, injections, syrups, bandages, and other pharmaceuticals, alongside cement and mats. The driver and three other occupants are currently in custody.
In the North-West, troops in Katsina State arrested a suspected drug trafficker with 487 grams of cannabis. Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, soldiers responded to a distress call, rescuing two abducted personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), neutralising threats, and apprehending a suspected terrorist. The rescued officers, who sustained injuries, have been evacuated for treatment.
Operations in other regions also yielded significant outcomes. In Plateau State, troops foiled a cattle rustling attempt, recovering 92 livestock and rescuing an injured herder. Security forces also arrested two suspects found with a pistol, ammunition, and other items.
In the Federal Capital Territory, a raid on an illegal mining site led to the recovery of various mining equipment, while in Rivers State, troops dismantled illegal oil refining infrastructure. Recovered materials included thousands of litres of stolen crude oil and refined products, along with pipelines, storage facilities, and processing equipment.
Similarly, in Edo State, troops working alongside other security agencies apprehended a suspected kidnapper, reinforcing ongoing efforts to curb violent crimes.
Military authorities noted that the successes recorded across the various theatres were driven by enhanced intelligence gathering and improved inter-agency collaboration.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and protecting citizens, urging the public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing security operations.
