Kano Police Raid Criminal Hotspots, Arrest 193 Suspects, Recover Weapons, Illicit Drugs
The Kano State Police Command has intensified its offensive against criminal activities, arresting 193 suspects and recovering a cache of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs during coordinated raids across the state.
The operations, carried out between April 10 and 12, were part of ongoing efforts to reinforce public safety in line with directives from the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu. The initiative focuses on enhanced surveillance, visibility patrols, and dismantling of criminal hideouts.
The raids were conducted simultaneously across identified black spots and criminal enclaves, under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, and executed by 11 Area Commanders.

Police authorities disclosed that a total of 193 suspects were apprehended during the exercise. Items recovered include 51 cutlasses, 15 knives, 41 clubs, 72 rubber solutions, 69 sachets of pregabalin, and 259 tablets of exol. A large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was also seized.
According to the Command, investigations are ongoing, while security operatives have sustained patrols and surveillance across identified hotspots to prevent further criminal activities.
Commissioner Bakori commended officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and resilience, noting that such coordinated efforts are critical to maintaining law and order. He also acknowledged the role of residents in providing timely and useful information to security agencies.
The Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through designated emergency lines or the “NPF Rescue Me” mobile application.
