FRSC Warns Against Assault on Operatives as Edo Attack Suspect Apprehended
The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, cautioned motorists and members of the public against assaulting its personnel.
He said the Corps’ remains resolute in its zero-tolerance stance on attacks against operatives carrying out their lawful duties.
This was contained in statement signed by Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri, the Corps Public Education Officer, on Thursday.
This follows the arrest of a suspect involved in the assault of an FRSC patrol team in Edo State. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, April 11, when a patrol team from RS5.1 Edo Sector Command flagged down a vehicle for a seat belt violation.

According to the statement the suspect who initially escaped was later tracked and apprehended through swift collaboration between the FRSC, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS). The offender has since confessed to the crime and expressed remorse.
“Assault on law enforcement officers is a serious criminal offence and will be met with the full weight of the law. We will not tolerate attacks on our personnel under any circumstances.”
“The zero-tolerance stance of the Corps is clear. While acknowledging the suspect’s remorse, due process will be followed, and appropriate legal action pursued to serve as a deterrent to others,” the statement partly reads.
The injured Marshal is reported to be in stable condition and receiving appropriate care.
Shehu reiterates the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives, ensuring safer roads, and safeguarding its personnel while urging members of the public to cooperate with operatives and use established channels for complaints rather than resorting to violence.
