Bolarinwa Declares 2027 Kwara Guber Bid, Vows to Tackle Insecurity
A leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, pledging to prioritise security and human capital development if elected.
Bolarinwa made the declaration on Monday before a large gathering of party members, supporters, and stakeholders drawn from across the state, in what was described as a major political mobilisation ahead of the next election cycle.
He said his decision to run was driven by a desire to serve and address what he described as the pressing challenges confronting the state, particularly insecurity and underdevelopment.
According to him, his administration would take decisive steps to confront insecurity across Kwara State, which has in recent times witnessed cases of banditry, kidnappings, and other violent crimes in some communities.
“The safety of lives and property will be non-negotiable under my leadership. We will decisively tackle and comprehensively address insecurity at all levels across the state,” he said.
Beyond security, Bolarinwa pledged to focus on human capital development through increased investment in education, healthcare, and skills acquisition programmes aimed at empowering youths and women.
He said these sectors would form the backbone of his development agenda, describing them as essential for sustainable growth and stability.

“We will invest in education, healthcare, and skills development to ensure that our youths and women are empowered as drivers of growth and development,” he added.
The aspirant described his political journey as one rooted in experience and service, noting that he had previously served as councillor, local government chairman, member of the National Assembly, and Kwara State APC chairman.
According to him, these roles have equipped him with the leadership capacity required to govern the state effectively.
“Our state stands at a critical point where we must deepen development, expand opportunities, and ensure governance reflects fairness, inclusion, and justice,” he said.
Bolarinwa also promised to strengthen the state’s economy through agriculture, innovation, and enterprise development, while promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
He called on party leaders, stakeholders, and residents of the state to support his ambition, describing it as a collective mission to build a better Kwara.
“This is a collective mission for a stronger, more inclusive Kwara. I cannot do it alone,” he said.
The event attracted several political figures and party elders, who described his ambition as timely and rooted in experience, urging broader consultations ahead of the APC primaries.
Bolarinwa also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing confidence that similar progressive governance would be replicated at the state level if elected.
