Police Arrest Eight Suspected Kidnappers, Recover AK-47 Rifles in Nasarawa
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested eight suspected kidnappers and recovered arms and other exhibits following a coordinated security operation in Rukubi Community, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The operation, carried out by operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command in collaboration with other security agencies and local community youths, followed a distress report on an attack allegedly carried out by armed hoodlums in the community.
According to the police, the incident occurred on the night of May 6, 2026, when the assailants reportedly invaded the community, shooting sporadically and creating panic among residents.
The attackers were said to have stormed the residences of two residents and abducted two persons to an unknown destination.
Security operatives subsequently launched a coordinated operation in the area, leading to the arrest of eight suspects allegedly linked to the attack.

The suspects were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all said to be from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.
During the operation, operatives recovered two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells allegedly connected to the incident.
The police further disclosed that one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries during the operation and later died while receiving treatment.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the operatives involved in the operation for what he described as gallantry and professionalism in the fight against violent crimes.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the IGP said the operation underscored the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity across the country.
He also appreciated the support of other security agencies, local vigilante groups, community youths, and residents whose cooperation contributed to the success of the operation.
The police assured residents of continued efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes, while investigations into the incident continue.
