Security forces have recorded significant breakthroughs in ongoing counterterrorism and anti-criminal operations across the North-West and North-East, with separate arrests linked to illicit drug trafficking and ammunition supply networks supporting terrorist groups.
In Katsina State, troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Malumfashi, operating in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), raided a suspected drug peddling hideout in Kafur Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted at about 12:30 p.m. on May 12, 2026, took place in Huguma village following actionable intelligence on illicit drug distribution activities in the area.
During the raid, security operatives arrested a suspect identified as a major supplier of illicit substances allegedly linked to terrorist and criminal networks operating within Kafur and surrounding communities. Items recovered included 146 grams of suspected cannabis and 16.5 grams of a substance identified as Exol-5.

In a separate operation in Yobe State, troops of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, arrested two suspects in Damaturu over alleged involvement in the supply of ammunition to terrorist elements operating in the North-East.
Security sources confirmed that the arrests were made at about 12:05 p.m. on May 11, 2026, following intelligence derived from communication intercepts linked to an earlier arrest of a repentant member of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
Preliminary investigations indicated that one of the suspects was tasked with collecting ammunition from the second suspect for onward delivery to a terrorist commander. The suspects were apprehended in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
Military sources further disclosed that the suspects are currently in custody, while intelligence-led operations are ongoing to track down the alleged terrorist commander and recover the intended ammunition consignment.
Authorities described both operations as part of sustained, intelligence-driven efforts to disrupt logistical, financial, and material support networks sustaining insurgent and criminal activities across the region.
