Troops Raid Criminal Hideouts, Arrest 13, Recover Weapons in Sokoto, Edo Operations
Security operatives have arrested 13 suspects and recovered weapons, ammunition and suspected hard drugs during separate operations targeting criminal and terrorist logistics networks in Sokoto and Edo states.
Military and security sources said the operations were carried out on May 17, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal enclaves and improve security in affected communities.
In Sokoto State, troops of the Nigerian Army’s 8 Division Garrison conducted a raid at about 11:00 a.m. in Sabon Birni Local Government Area, targeting suspected terrorist logistics suppliers operating within the area.
Sources disclosed that the operation focused on suspected logistics hubs believed to be supporting terrorist elements. During the raid, troops arrested 11 suspects from different hideouts and recovered a locally fabricated pistol loaded with 10 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, as well as quantities of suspected hard drugs.

The suspects and recovered items were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Similarly, in Edo State, joint security operatives comprising troops of the Nigerian Army 4 Brigade, personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and local hunters carried out coordinated raids on suspected criminal hideouts in Owan East Local Government Area.
The operation, which commenced at about 6:27 a.m., targeted criminal enclaves at Egoro Amede, Ekeke Forest, Ishiolili villages and Camp Sule Rugan Fulani.
During the exercise, operatives arrested two suspected criminals and recovered three machetes, one spear and a mobile phone.
Security sources said the suspects and recovered exhibits had also been handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Authorities noted that the operations formed part of sustained security measures aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring peace in affected areas.
