NAF Deepens Special Forces Capacity with Intelligence Training in Bauchi
The Nigerian Air Force has intensified efforts to strengthen its operational readiness through specialized intelligence and security training aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of its special forces personnel in tackling emerging security threats and protecting civilian lives.
As part of the initiative, the Regiment Training Centre Annex (RTCA) in Bauchi conducted an intensive training programme on Intelligence and Security in Special Forces Operations for participants of Special Forces Course 13/2026. The exercise focused on improving operational awareness, intelligence application and mission effectiveness in modern conflict environments characterized by insurgency, terrorism and other asymmetric threats.

According to him, every special forces operator must possess adequate knowledge of intelligence processes, operational security and information management to effectively carry out assigned missions.
The trainees were also lectured by the Command Intelligence Officer at Headquarters Special Operations Command, E. Miji, who exposed participants to key aspects of intelligence operations, including intelligence gathering techniques, surveillance and reconnaissance, counterintelligence, information analysis and operational threat assessment.
The programme featured practical exercises and simulated operational scenarios designed to test the trainees’ analytical thinking, situational awareness and decision-making under pressure. The exercises also provided hands-on insight into the practical application of intelligence in special operations while reinforcing professionalism, vigilance and security consciousness during mission execution.
The training, according to the NAF, aligns with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to build a highly skilled, mission-ready and combat-effective force capable of neutralising emerging threats, supporting counterinsurgency operations and safeguarding national security and civilian populations.
