Troops Recover Explosives, Arrest Suspected Terrorists’ Logistics Supplier in Borno
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified counter-terrorism operations in Borno State, leading to the recovery of explosives and ammunition as well as the arrest of a suspected logistics supplier allegedly linked to terrorist elements.
The operations, conducted in Damboa and Gubio Local Government Areas, form part of ongoing efforts to disrupt insurgent activities and dismantle support networks sustaining terrorist operations in the North-East.
Security sources disclosed that troops of the 25 Brigade, in collaboration with local vigilantes, recovered two Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bombs and 150 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammunition during a fighting patrol in Damboa Local Government Area on June 1.
The patrol was launched following intelligence reports indicating clashes between rival terrorist factions operating in the area.
According to the sources, troops conducted clearance and exploitation operations across Baale, Alagarno, Maisaimari, Yadimari and Shiwari villages, where they discovered that the communities had been deserted with no visible human activity.
During the operation in Baale village, troops recovered the explosives and ammunition believed to have been abandoned amid the reported terrorist infighting.
Security officials said the recovery was part of ongoing efforts to exploit areas affected by insurgent clashes and prevent criminal elements from accessing weapons and operational resources.

The sources noted that the absence of residents in the affected communities suggested displacement resulting from recent clashes between rival terrorist groups.
Meanwhile, troops of the 149 Battalion (Motorised) arrested a suspected logistics supplier during an intelligence-led operation in Gubio Local Government Area on May 31.
The suspect was apprehended in Gubio town while allegedly transporting food items suspected to be destined for terrorist elements operating in the region.
Items recovered from the suspect included a pick-up vehicle loaded with 31 bags of buski, 11 bags of millet, one mobile phone and N43,500 in cash.
Military sources said preliminary assessments of the recovered items raised suspicions about their intended destination, prompting the arrest of the suspect for further investigation.
The suspect and recovered exhibits are currently in military custody pending the conclusion of investigations.
Security authorities described the disruption of logistics and supply chains as a critical component of ongoing counter-terrorism operations, noting that insurgent groups rely heavily on such networks for food, communication and operational support.
They reaffirmed the commitment of troops to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist elements and their collaborators while maintaining dominance in conflict-affected areas.
The authorities also urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence to support security operations, adding that investigations and follow-up actions are ongoing to identify other members of the suspected logistics network and further degrade terrorist capabilities in the region.
