African Scholar’s ‘Trinity of State Decay’ Theory Enters Global Academic Record
The Sundiata Post Intelligence Unit (SPIU) has announced that the Trinity of State Decay (TSD), a theoretical framework developed by its Lead Researcher, Dr. Max Amuchie, has been formally published on major global scholarly platforms, marking a significant milestone in African contributions to contemporary governance and security studies.
According to SPIU, the framework entered the international academic record following the publication of Dr. Amuchie’s 16,315-word treatise, “The Trinity of State Decay (Part 1): Sovereign Decoupling and Rival Sovereignty — A Theoretical Statement,” by Zenodo, the open-access repository developed by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and Harvard University’s Dataverse repository.
While Zenodo published the work on Wednesday, Harvard Dataverse followed with its publication on Thursday, providing multiple internationally recognised scholarly records for the research.
SPIU described the development as a major achievement in the advancement of original African scholarship on statehood, security, governance, and political development.
The Trinity of State Decay advances a new theoretical proposition that state decay in many countries of the Global South should be understood primarily as a sovereignty crisis in which formal state structures become increasingly detached from effective authority, resulting in the emergence of competing centres of power and governance.
The framework introduces a number of original concepts, including Sovereign Decoupling, Rival Sovereignty, Institutional Mirage, Shadow Order, Architecture of Resurrection, Constitutional Erasure, and the Psychology of the Table, among others.
SPIU noted that the latest publication brings to two the number of original analytical frameworks developed by Dr. Amuchie under its platform that have gained recognition and preservation within the global scholarly ecosystem.

The first was The Insecurity Triad, an analytical model designed to explain insecurity through the interaction of state weakness, criminal entrepreneurship, and social fragmentation.
Speaking on the publication, Dr. Amuchie described the development as an opportunity for wider scholarly engagement and critical examination of the framework.
“The publication of The Trinity of State Decay is not an end point but an invitation to debate, test, refine, and challenge the theory. The ultimate measure of any theory is not publication but its ability to illuminate reality and contribute to understanding,” he said.
Beyond its inclusion in global repositories, the study has also been made available on ResearchGate, Academia.edu, and Substack, platforms widely used by researchers, academics, policy analysts, journalists, and development practitioners around the world.
According to SPIU, the multiple publication channels are expected to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and scholarly engagement surrounding the framework.
The organisation further disclosed that the Trinity of State Decay forms part of a broader research agenda that includes the development of the Decoupling Sovereignty Index (DSI), a forthcoming measurement framework intended to assess sovereignty conditions at sub-national and territorial levels.
SPIU said the publication comes at a time when debates around state fragility, hybrid governance systems, institutional legitimacy, and competing centres of authority continue to attract increasing attention among scholars and policymakers globally.
The organisation expressed optimism that the framework would contribute fresh analytical perspectives to ongoing discussions on governance, security, state resilience, and sovereign authority across Africa and the wider Global South.
Observers say the recognition of the theory by internationally respected scholarly repositories reflects the growing visibility of African-led research efforts in shaping contemporary debates on governance and security challenges confronting developing nations.
