Military Offensive Cripples ISWAP, Forces Senior Commanders to Surrender
Sustained military offensives by the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have forced another group of senior leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) to surrender to troops in the North-East theatre, the military has announced.
The development, according to Operation HADIN KAI, underscores the growing impact of intensified counter-terrorism operations backed by credible, timely and actionable intelligence, which have continued to weaken the operational capabilities of Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the military disclosed that the surrendered terrorists abandoned their enclaves following sustained pressure from ongoing operations.
The statement said the surrendered individuals include key members of the ISWAP leadership structure who have since been moved to a secure location where they are undergoing profiling, debriefing and other established procedures in line with operational protocols.

According to the military, the latest surrender reflects the devastating effect of sustained offensives that have continued to dismantle terrorist enclaves, disrupt command and logistics networks, and restrict the freedom of movement of insurgent groups across the North-East.
It noted that continuous military operations have significantly degraded the combat effectiveness of the terrorists while weakening confidence among their fighters and leadership.
Operation HADIN KAI further revealed that within the last one week alone, 76 terrorist foot soldiers, alongside some members of their families, surrendered to troops operating in the theatre.
The military attributed the operational successes to its comprehensive counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency strategy, which combines precision combat operations, intelligence-driven engagements and coordinated joint operations with relevant partners.
Reaffirming its commitment to ending insurgency in the region, Operation HADIN KAI said troops would sustain the pressure on the remaining terrorist elements until they are either neutralised or compelled to surrender.
“The pressure on the remaining terrorist elements will continue unabated until they are completely neutralised or forced to surrender,” the statement said.
