Military Foils Kidnap Attempts in Niger, Imo, Rescue 7 Victims
Troops of the Nigerian Army, working in collaboration with other security agencies, have foiled separate kidnap attempts in Niger and Imo states, rescuing seven victims unhurt during coordinated operations.
In Niger State, troops of the 102 Guards Battalion under Operation MESA thwarted a kidnap attempt and rescued two victims during a swift response operation in Agwan Tomato, Tafa Local Government Area.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 3:05 a.m. on July 15 after troops responded to reports of kidnapping activities in the area. The prompt intervention disrupted the operation of the suspected kidnappers, forcing them to flee and leaving the two victims unharmed.

In a separate operation in Imo State, troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade under Operation UDO KA, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes, rescued five victims during an attempted abduction around Obokofia Community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area.
The joint operation was carried out at about 6:55 p.m. on July 15, following a distress call. Security operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene, engaged the suspected kidnappers, and successfully rescued all five victims without injury.
The assailants reportedly fled following the arrival of the security team in both operations.
Security forces have since launched follow-up operations to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The successful rescue operations underscore the sustained efforts of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to combat kidnapping, enhance public safety, and protect lives and property across the country.
