Bishop Adegbite @56: Celebrating a Legacy of Leadership and Service in NCPC

“Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.” – Proverbs 4:10-13

As we celebrate the 56th birthday of Bishop (Prof) Stephen Adegbite, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), we reflect on his remarkable journey and the significant impact he has made in the commission. His life and legacy resonate deeply with the wisdom of Proverbs 4:10-13.

Born on August 17th, 1968, in Oyo state, Bishop Adegbite’s early life was marked by a strong calling to serve God. He pursued his theological education at Immanuel Seminary and later earned his first degree, Masters, and PhD in Comparative Christian Religion and Ethics from the University of Ibadan.

Bishop Adegbite’s ministerial journey spans over three decades, during which he has served in various capacities, including Metropolitan Bishop of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Ikeja Diocese, Lagos state, and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos state.

As a trailblazer, he has defied conventions and pushed beyond the boundaries of comfort and mediocrity. With unwavering determination, he abandoned other promising pursuits to embrace the call of theology, fulfilling his own dreams and aspirations.

His appointment as the 4th substantive Executive Secretary of the NCPC by president Ahmed Bola Tinubu marked a new era for the commission. Under his leadership, the NCPC has experienced significant growth and development, with notable achievements including:

– Restoring dignity and confidence to stakeholders
– Implementing innovative staff welfare and motivation programs
– Approving the auctioning of official used cars and other items to staff
– Engaging relevant stakeholders in running the affairs of Christian pilgrimage sub-sector in Nigeria
– Prioritizing capacity building through staff training programs

His commitment to the happiness and well-being of others has earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and stakeholders. As we celebrate Bishop Adegbite’s 56th birthday and his milestone achievements, we honor his dedication, leadership, and tireless service to the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission and the Christian community at large.

August they said, is for great men. May this birthday be a blessing and an inspiration to continue his good work, and may God grant him many more years of wisdom, strength, and joy!
