NOA, AIT Enlighten Nigerians on Precautions During Extreme Heat

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), in collaboration with Africa Independent Television (AIT), has launched an awareness campaign to educate Nigerians on essential safety measures amid the current extreme heatwave affecting the country.

In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) page, NOA emphasized the importance of personal responsibility in mitigating the dangers of extreme heat.

The agency warned that the consequences of ignoring heat precautions are severe and urged Nigerians to adopt essential safeguards to stay healthy.

As part of the awareness campaign, NOA and AIT provided key recommendations to help Nigerians cope with the rising temperatures.

They advised people to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoiding excessive alcohol or caffeinated drinks, which can lead to dehydration.

Similarly, they highlighted that citizen should bush burning and improper waste disposal, which can lead to fire hazards, especially during extreme heat.

The agency also emphasized the need to protect vulnerable groups, warning against leaving children or elderly individuals in poorly ventilated or excessively hot spaces.

“Nigerians are encouraged to eat light and nutritious meals to maintain their body’s strength and fight heat-related illnesses. Proper nutrition plays a key role in keeping the body resilient during extreme weather conditions”, he video said.

They called on the public to take responsibility, not just for themselves but also for their communities, by spreading awareness and adopting these preventive measures.
