Unexploded Military Ordnance Recovered in Damaturu by Police
Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have successfully recovered an unexploded military-grade ordnance discovered behind the premises of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Damaturu, along Potiskum Road.
According to security sources, the suspicious object was spotted at approximately 6:15 p.m. on June 30, prompting the swift deployment of the Police Bomb Disposal Unit (BOMPOL) to the scene.

Upon arrival, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team cordoned off the area and carefully examined the device. It was subsequently identified as an unexploded military ordnance. Following strict safety protocols, the device was safely recovered and transported for controlled detonation.
Preliminary investigations suggest the explosive may have been abandoned by scavengers after being inadvertently unearthed in the area.
No casualties were reported during the recovery operation. The affected location has since been secured and placed under close surveillance to ensure the continued safety of residents.
Police authorities have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or activity to the nearest security agency, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and public safety across the state.
