Anambra Police Arrest Man with Human Breast; Rescue Abducted Driver, Recover Goods Worth N9.5m

The Anambra State Police Command has announced a series of significant breakthroughs in its fight against crime, including the arrest of a suspect found in possession of a human breast, the rescue of a kidnapped truck driver, and the recovery of goods worth ₦9.5 million.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives attached to the Awada Police Station, in collaboration with local vigilantes, arrested a 25-year-old male suspect, Samuel Eze, at about 3:30 p.m. along Jude Onyekwere Street, Awada, Obosi.

The suspect was found with a freshly severed female breast. The body part was recovered and deposited in a mortuary for preservation, while Eze is currently undergoing interrogation for further investigation and possible prosecution.

In a separate operation, officers from the Rapid Response Squad, acting on credible intelligence, successfully rescued a kidnapped truck driver around 12:45 p.m. on July 4. The officers recovered a truck loaded with custard powder valued at ₦9.5 million, which had been diverted by a criminal gang.

Three suspects—Udegenyi Ugochukwu (38), Anayochukwu Okonkwo (47), and Good Odigili (47)—were arrested in connection with the incident. During interrogation, they confessed that the goods were initially meant to be delivered to a warehouse in Asaba, Delta State. However, they abducted the driver, tied him up in a bush, and diverted the consignment to Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State.

Additionally, the police recovered a suspected stolen and abandoned Toyota Sienna minivan with registration number 736 JP, bearing the inscription “Forum of Accountants Delta State.” The vehicle was discovered around 4:30 p.m. on July 5 by patrol operatives from the Obosi Division along Okpuno-Umuota Village Road.

The Command has urged members of the public who may be searching for any of the recovered vehicles to come forward with valid proof of ownership for verification and possible collection.

SP Ikenga reaffirmed the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to ensuring public safety. He noted that joint security patrols comprising personnel from the police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), Immigration Service, and the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) remain active across the state to sustain the security gains.

“We are determined to maintain the momentum in securing Anambra and ridding the state of all criminal elements,” SP Ikenga stated.
