Troops Rescue 23 Kidnap Victims in Sokoto, Adamawa Operations

Troops of the Nigerian military, in separate operations across Sokoto and Adamawa States, have rescued 23 kidnapped victims, including 17 girls abducted by bandits and six persons seized by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, PRNigeria learnt.

In Sokoto, troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, working in synergy with police tactical teams and local vigilantes, stormed Bargaja village in Isa Local Government Area on August 31 after armed bandits attacked the community.

The criminals had abducted 17 girls who went into the forest to fetch firewood and killed two farmers working on their farms.

According to security sources, the combined forces engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel that lasted several hours before overpowering them. The abducted girls were successfully rescued and later handed over to Isa Local Government authorities, while patrols have been intensified to prevent further incursions.

In a related development, Zagazola Makama reports that troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in collaboration with the Police, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and other security agencies, rescued six victims who were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents in Adamawa State.

The victims — identified as Bakari Joda, Abdullahi Jugal, Saleh Abba Iya, Mallam Gunyal, Buba Daye, and Adama Isah — were seized on August 22 during an attack on a Fulani settlement at Shuwa-Yinagu junction in Madagali Local Government Area. They regained freedom on August 30 following sustained clearance operations and combing of the Sambisa fringes by security forces.

The rescued persons were taken to Gulak Cottage Hospital for medical examination, debriefed, and reunited with their families.

Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing clearance operations aimed at flushing out insurgents, degrading bandit networks, and restoring peace across the North-East and North-West regions.
