Troops Eliminate Terrorist, Rescue Kidnap Victims in Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna
Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji have carried out a series of successful counter-insurgency operations across Sokoto, Katsina, and Kaduna States, rescuing kidnapped victims, neutralizing a terrorist, and recovering arms and equipment.
The operations, conducted between Tuesday and Wednesday, reflect the military’s intensified push to dismantle terrorist networks and safeguard vulnerable communities in the northwest.
In the Tasha Bagaruwa area of Sabon Birni LGA, Sokoto State, troops swiftly responded to an attack on local farmers by armed terrorists. Following a fierce firefight, the assailants were forced to retreat, abandoning three hostages. The victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families, security sources told counter-insurgency analyst Zagazola Makama.

Additionally, in Malumfashi LGA of Katsina State, terrorists launched an assault on the Na’lma Special Hunters Camp. The attackers killed the camp’s commander and stole his rifle. However, a joint team of troops and vigilantes repelled the attack, killing one terrorist. An AK-47 rifle with 21 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition was recovered at the scene. The remains of the victims were later handed over to their relatives.
Simultaneously, troops conducted offensive clearance and cordon-and-search operations in parts of Kachia and Kajuru LGAs of Kaduna State, targeting terrorist hideouts in Gada Naji, Wake, Insame, and Kabode.
During the mission, troops engaged fleeing terrorists attempting to cross a river towards the Mai-Ido axis but were hindered by difficult terrain. Nonetheless, the operation yielded the recovery of three motorcycles, three Baofeng radios, and a mobile phone commonly used by terrorists for communication and mobility.
Clearance patrols also extended to Maraban Kajuru, Kasuwa Magani, and Rimau communities to disrupt terrorist movements and deny them safe havens.
Military sources noted that the latest operations form part of sustained efforts to degrade terrorist groups, rescue hostages, and reinforce security in northwest Nigeria, where kidnapping-for-ransom and rural attacks have become recurring threats.
