FG dares Labour not to Challenge Constituted Authority
The Honourable Minster of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, has affirmed that no worker can challenge the appointing authority of the President as it is within his constitutional right to do so
The Minister made this assertion recently in Abuja when he received the report of the committee set up to address the issue of protests by some staff of Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) over the re-appointment of Prof. Eli Jidere Bala as the Director General.
According to him, “the appointment of Prof. Bala is the decision of the President. He can also by the same constitutional power appoint Ambassadors and High Commissioners, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, amongst others.”

He emphasized that the Constitution is the grand norm on which Mr President’s power to appoint is predicated; therefore Civil Servants are expected to give such appointees the deserved acceptance and respect.
Speaking further, Ngige stated that the implementation of the report would restore peace to the Energy Commission of Nigeria. “I have glanced through the executive summary of the report and it is my desire that the implementation will bring total peace to the Commission”, he said.
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the committee, Mr. Udoh Emmanuel, thanked the Honourable Minister for the opportunity to serve the country in this capacity. He opined that the report would serve the desired purpose of restoring peace and harmony to the Commission.
