Air Chief Vows Continued Support for NDA in Producing Combat-Ready Officers
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in its mission to train professionally competent and morally upright officers for the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).
Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), made the pledge while receiving the 34th Commandant of the Academy, Major General Oluyemi Olatoye, at the NAF Headquarters. He congratulated the new Commandant on his appointment, describing it as a reflection of his proven competence and exemplary service.

Speaking on the significance of the visit, Air Marshal Aneke, a former Deputy Commandant of the NDA, highlighted the Academy’s role as the cradle of military professionalism. “The NADA NDAshapes the future of the AFN by producing officers who are mentally resilient, morally upright, and operationally prepared to defend the nation in an evolving security environment,” he said.
The CAS emphasized that sustaining a combat-ready officer corps requires continuous collaboration in training, faculty development, and operational exposure. He assured Major General Olatoye of the NAF’s readiness to deepen cooperation to ensure the Academy continues to produce officers capable of contributing meaningfully to national defence.
In his response, Major General Olatoye expressed gratitude for the warm reception and pledged to build on the reforms and structures established by his predecessors. He affirmed the NDA’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Services, enhancing its curriculum, and further developing leadership and character-moulding processes to meet contemporary security challenges
Both leaders expressed confidence that the strengthened partnership will advance the development of competent, disciplined, and combat-ready officers for Nigeria’s Armed Forces.
