Restore Hope IX: COAS Charges Troops to Translate Training into Operational Success
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged officers and soldiers graduating from Exercise Restore Hope IX to translate their intensive training into tangible operational success as they deploy to various theatres across the country to confront Nigeria’s security challenges.
General Shaibu gave the charge on Friday at the Final Exercise and Graduation Ceremony of Restore Hope IX held at the Nigerian Army Training Camp, Kachia, Kaduna State, stressing that combat excellence, discipline, adaptability and teamwork remain critical requirements for success in modern warfare.
He described Exercise Restore Hope as a key pillar of the Nigerian Army’s transformation agenda, noting that the training was deliberately structured to produce a professional, resilient and mission-oriented force capable of operating effectively within joint and multi-agency environments.
According to the Army Chief, the advanced infantry exercise equipped the graduating troops with improved marksmanship, physical endurance, combat medical skills and the mental resilience required for sustained high-tempo operations, particularly in complex and asymmetric security environments.
General Shaibu further emphasised that battlefield success must be anchored on professionalism, accountability and respect for human rights, noting that ethical conduct is essential for maintaining public confidence and operational legitimacy during internal security operations.
