Kwara Muslim Group, “The Companion” Seeks Immediate Security Measures After Attacks on Woro Community
The Companion, an association of Muslim men in business and the professions, has called on the Kwara State Government to take immediate and proactive measures to secure communities following recent attacks on the Muslim population in Woro.
In a statement signed by Imam Nojeem Jimoh, National Amir (President) and made available to newsmen, the group condemned the “unprecedented tragedy” that has struck Woro, describing the escalating violence as a possible calculated strategy to undermine and intimidate Muslim communities in the state.
“We fear a sinister strategy is at play, likely designed to weaken the center by leaving peripheral communities vulnerable through cumulative violence,” the group said.

It expressed concern over repeated assaults on Muslim-majority areas, including Oke Ode, warning that the government’s inaction is eroding public confidence in its ability to protect citizens. “This erosion of trust carries serious degenerative implications that the government may ultimately find embarrassing if left unaddressed,” the statement warned.
The Companion urged authorities to move beyond setting up reactive committees, describing such approaches as time-wasting. Instead, it called on the government to immediately implement findings from pre-existing studies on the socio-economic conditions of Woro and surrounding communities, adopt a proactive security system that anticipates and neutralizes threats before they occur, and for politicians to demonstrate meaningful support for Woro and other affected areas rather than merely exploiting local information for campaign purposes.
The group also reaffirmed its solidarity with the victims, emphasizing that protecting lives and property is a constitutional responsibility that requires urgency and sincerity. The statement was.
