Army Eliminates Bandits, Rescues Hostages in Niger, Arrests B’Haram Logistics Supplier in Adamawa
The Nigerian Army has recorded fresh operational successes in Niger and Adamawa states, neutralising scores of armed bandits, rescuing kidnapped victims, and arresting a suspected Boko Haram logistics supplier in separate coordinated operations.
In Niger State, troops conducted a major offensive across Eriya and A’ure communities in Mariga Local Government Area, extending to border areas of Magama LGA. The operation targeted bandits believed to have migrated from the Ibbi–Zugurma axis of Kainji National Park.
Security sources said the criminals, while relocating from their former camp in the Ibbi Forest, attacked civilians along their route, killing some and abducting others, in addition to moving previously kidnapped victims.
Troops from Warari Forward Operating Base (FOB) and Gulbin Boka FOB, Kontagora Barracks, launched coordinated assaults against the bandits, neutralising a significant number of them. Several others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds, weakening their operational capacity.

The troops also rescued several captives, including men, women, and children, who had been held by the criminals. Military officials described the operation as a clear demonstration of tactical superiority and commitment to safeguarding lives and restoring peace in the affected communities.
In a separate development in Adamawa State, troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, working in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, arrested a suspected Boko Haram logistics supplier in the Visik General area of Hong Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as Ismail Muhammed, 28, was apprehended during a targeted operation. Items recovered from him included an AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, a jungle hat, 10 bags of salt, two cartons of spaghetti, two sachets of seasoning cubes, a sachet of tom-tom, and bitter kola.
Authorities said the suspect is currently in custody undergoing further investigation, as the military sustains pressure on criminal and insurgent networks across affected regions.
Security sources reiterated the Army’s resolve to dismantle banditry and terrorist supply chains, urging residents to continue providing credible information to support ongoing operations.
