NAF Expands Global Training Drive with High-Level Visit to Canadian Aviation Centres
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified efforts to enhance its operational capabilities through strengthened international partnerships, following a high-level strategic visit to leading aviation training institutions in Canada.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, led a delegation on a facility tour of the International Test Pilots School and the International Tactical Training Centre in London, Ontario. The visit forms part of the Service’s broader agenda to modernise its operations, build technical capacity, and align with global best practices in military aviation.
Discussions during the visit focused on key training and development areas, including fighter lead-in programmes, helicopter tactical operations, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) training, and advanced flight test techniques. The delegation also explored opportunities for technical support, collaborative research, and the development of customised flight simulator systems to meet the evolving operational demands of the NAF.

Air Marshal Aneke underscored the importance of sustained international collaboration in achieving operational excellence. He stated that the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to leveraging strategic partnerships with globally recognised institutions to accelerate personnel development and strengthen its technological edge.
“This engagement reflects our deliberate effort to enhance capacity development, improve airpower effectiveness, and ensure the continuous modernisation of both our platforms and human resources,” he said.
The CAS further noted that discussions extended to potential collaboration in the overhaul and upgrade of NAF aircraft, a move aimed at boosting fleet efficiency and serviceability.
In their response, representatives of the host institutions commended the Nigerian Air Force for its forward-looking approach to capability enhancement. They expressed readiness to support the Service’s transformation drive through structured cooperation in specialised aviation training and technology integration.
According to the institutions, such partnerships would not only strengthen operational capacity but also promote mutual knowledge exchange and innovation in military aviation.
The visit underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s strategic vision under Air Marshal Aneke to build a technologically advanced, highly professional, and globally connected force capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.
