Customs Reaffirms Commitment as Nigeria Moves to Launch National Single Window Initiative
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing trade facilitation and eliminating operational bottlenecks ahead of the planned rollout of the National Single Window (NSW) initiative.
This assurance was given during a pre-launch event held in Apapa on March 24, 2026, where government officials and key stakeholders in the trade and logistics sector convened to assess the readiness and expected impact of the digital platform.
Speaking at the engagement, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, represented by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of ICT and Modernisation, Oluyomi Adebakin, reiterated the Service’s pivotal role in driving the initiative through technology integration and inter-agency collaboration.
Adebakin disclosed that the NCS had already made substantial progress through the deployment of its trade facilitation platform, B’Odogwu, which aligns with the objectives of the National Single Window.
She explained that the system has addressed initial operational challenges and is now functioning optimally, adding that Customs technical teams are working closely with the NSW implementation team to ensure seamless integration.

According to her, the platform is expected to significantly improve cargo clearance processes, enhance transparency, and strengthen regulatory compliance across Nigeria’s ports and borders.
She emphasised that the effectiveness of the one-stop digital platform would depend largely on the commitment of all participating agencies and stakeholders to adhere strictly to established operational procedures.
Adebakin further described the initiative as a key milestone in the Service’s ongoing modernisation efforts aimed at leveraging technology to facilitate legitimate trade while improving efficiency in regulatory processes.
In his remarks, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to deploying the system as part of broader economic reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He noted that the National Single Window would simplify import and export procedures, reduce delays, and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness as a regional trade hub.
Edun added that the platform would make it easier for businesses to access raw materials, spare parts, and finished goods, thereby improving local production capacity for both domestic consumption and export within West Africa and across the African continent.
The pre-launch event precedes the official rollout of the National Single Window scheduled for March 27, 2026, a development expected to streamline trade processes, reduce administrative burdens, and improve the overall ease of doing business in Nigeria.
