Police nab suspected armed robbers in FCT-Nasarawa axis
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspected members of a violent “one chance” armed robbery syndicate operating in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and neighbouring areas, in what authorities describe as a significant breakthrough against organised crime.
The operation, conducted by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), led to the arrest of David Francis, 22, and Emmanuel Ibenni, 36, also known as “Markfish.” The suspects were apprehended on 8 March 2026 at Sambec Hotel in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, following actionable intelligence.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects belong to a criminal network that disguises as commercial transport operators to lure unsuspecting passengers. Victims are reportedly robbed, assaulted, and in some cases abducted during such encounters.
The police further disclosed that the syndicate has been linked to multiple violent incidents involving the dispossession of victims of cash, mobile phones, and other valuables. Some victims allegedly suffered severe physical injuries, while others were reportedly found dead after encounters with the group.
Several victims have already identified the suspects, providing statements and intelligence that are assisting ongoing investigations.
Authorities say efforts are underway to track and apprehend other members of the syndicate still at large, as part of a broader operation to dismantle the network.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to tackling violent crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country.
