Nigeria, US Joint Air Strikes Kill Over 20 ISWAP Terrorists in Borno – DHQ
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), in collaboration with the United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM), has intensified coordinated military operations against Islamic State terrorists in Nigeria’s North-East, with fresh air strikes reportedly killing more than 20 ISWAP fighters in Metele, Borno State.
According to the military high command, the latest offensive followed intelligence indicating the convergence and movement of terrorist elements within the area, prompting multiple targeted air strikes against the insurgents.
The Defence Headquarters disclosed that the operations form part of sustained counter-terrorism efforts aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, degrading their operational capabilities, and denying them safe haven across the country.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to defending the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.
“The Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to aggressively defend the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of the nation. Terrorists who threaten our citizens, communities and national stability will be located and defeated,” the statement said.
The military further declared that no part of Nigeria would serve as a safe haven for terrorists or criminal elements threatening national peace and stability.
The ongoing operations underscore growing security cooperation between Nigeria and international partners in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the Lake Chad region.
