Tinubu Appoints New JAMB Registrar
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026.
The appointment was disclosed on Thursday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, is recognised for his expertise in digital infrastructure, national examination systems, and institutional reforms.
The Presidency described the incoming registrar, who turns 40 in July, as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors in the field of Computer Engineering and noted that he would become the youngest registrar in JAMB’s history.

Aina holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, as well as a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at the Lagos Business School.
The statement further noted that the academic has more than 15 years of professional experience advising federal and state governments on digital transformation, institutional reforms, and systems design.
Aina has also reportedly served as a consultant to key examination bodies, including the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, particularly in the areas of ICT systems and examination integrity.
He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would consolidate on the reforms and achievements recorded during Oloyede’s tenure.
The statement added that the President expects the new registrar to deploy his experience, technical expertise, and administrative insight to further strengthen the operations and performance of the examination body.
