Police, military neutralise terrorists, recover firearms, motorcycles in Kebbi
The Kebbi State Police Command, in collaboration with the military, has neutralised suspected terrorist elements and recovered weapons, ammunition and motorcycles during a joint clearance operation in Kangiwa, Kebbi State.
The operation was conducted at about 6:05am on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Gumki Forest, an area identified by security agencies as a route frequently used by bandits and Lakurawa elements.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kebbi State Command, SP Bashir Usman, the joint team engaged the terrorist elements during the operation and successfully neutralised some of them.
The security forces recovered one PKT rifle loaded with 174 rounds of live ammunition and one AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds of live ammunition.

Other items recovered from the area included two mobile phones, four motorcycles, a pair of military camouflage uniforms, a pair of boots and charms.
The command said the area remained relatively calm following the operation, while joint security operations were continuing to clear the forest and rid the area of criminal elements.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Umar M. Hadejia, commended the operatives for their gallantry and commitment to duty.
Hadejia reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained, coordinated and intelligence-led operations in collaboration with other security agencies to combat banditry, terrorism and other forms of criminality across the state.
He also urged residents to continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
