Corps Member Trains 45 inmates on skills acquisition
The National Youth Service Corp member Aneke Averistus Chinedu state Code No.SO/19A/1530 graduated 45 inmates at Sokoto medium security custodial centre,thursday 19th Dec,2019.
The 4 months training programs conducted by the Corp member is part of his CDS Project title”Enriching life initiative”has witnessed series of rigorous training activities amongst the competing inmates,ranging from Academic,Sport,Drama Artist and Bakery.
In his speech during the grand finale and Awards Presentation to the outstanding inmates, the youth Corp member stressed that,he was moved by the desire to impact positively to the life of inmates who are Youth by majority,as to be useful members to the society,if imbibe with the virtues of commitment to Education and skills acquisition.
He further added that”in the course of(4) months training programs,i saw the enthusiasm in the inmates and hope that by God’s grace,what they have learnt will be enough to make them,stand as a better citizens of the country”.
Earlier in his welcome address, the controller of corrections,sokoto state command CC Sama Sabo Chafe,represented by DCC Idris Muhammed appreciated the foresight of the Corp member Aneke Averistus for embarking on this laudable Projects despite his meagre resources.He then call on the NGO’s and well to do in the society to emulate this initiative.

Controller Calls for Tight Security in Custodial Centres.
The Controller of Corrections, Benue State Command, Nwabia Amaka Okorie(Mrs.)has urged the staff of Custodial Centres in the state to beef up security in their Centres before, during and after the Christmas celebration. She made this during her Fourth Quarterly inspection of the Custodial Facilities of the Command which started from 17th and ended on 20th December, 2019.
She admonished the officers to be security conscious, avoid trafficking and truancy. In her words, ‘every inmate wants freedom in order to celebrate Christmas with his relations, hence the need for vigilance’.
She commended the officers in charge for their good work and for keeping the Centres clean.
During the visit, she also went round the cells in the Custodial Centres in order to know how the inmates were fairing; and wished them happy Christmas and New year in advance.
In their separate remarks, the officers in charge of Medium Security Custodial Centres of Makurdi, Gboko, Otukpo and Farm Centres of Jato Aka and Iga Okpaya thanked the Controller for coming to inspect their activities.
