COVID 19: Katsina State Grants Amnesty to 453 Prison Inmates
Sequel to the 426 inmates earlier released and granted bail by the Chief Judge of Katsina state, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar, the Executive Governor of Katsina state, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, has pardoned 27 more inmates across four custodial centres in Katsina state, bringing the total number to 453 inmates in a bid to curtail the spread of Covid 19 pandemic.
The categories of inmates that benefitted from the pardon were the aged, those suffering mental illiness and other health challenges, those who displayed good conduct and industry, as well as those with less than six months to serve.
While addressing the beneficiaries, the State Controller of Corrections, Muhammad Abdulmumin Haruna, urged them to be of good character and be law abiding citizens.
