The Federal government has assured interested Investors that it is committed to the development and growth of business in Nigeria. Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajia Aisha Abubakar gave this assurance while receiving in her office, a delegation of businessmen from Canada led by the Managing Director of Cara Group Mr. Patrick Mc Guinness.The minister praised the decision of the organization to introduce Solar laptops into the Nigerian market adding that it was coming at the right time, as government was looking for an alternative power to help business growth in the country. Hajia Abubakar added that a product like the solar laptop which could be used to generate light and charge batteries would be helpful in easing some learning challenges in the educational institutions in the rural areas.
The Minister however, urged the businessmen to consider setting a factory in Nigeria to manufacture the product as this will create employment for the Nigerian youth. Hajia Abubakar told Mr. Mc Guinness to invite his friends and business associates to invest in the country as they would reap a huge benefits due to the large population that Nigeria has.
Earlier, Mr Patrick Mc Guinness revealed that his organization was into international trade, investment and financing adding that his organization has been doing business in Nigeria, growing local capacity and working towards a permanent presence in the country for some time now
He disclosed that the purpose of the visit was to seek ways of working closely with the ministry and to introduce their new product – the SOL Sola Laptop which would provide the much needed alternative source of power to rural educational institutions, the health sector as well as the small and medium enterprises, SMEs.
